Netbook vs Laptop - Pros & Cons?

I need a new computer. My trust Sony Vaio has given up the ghost afte 4 and half year. It's served me well, but it's most likely headed to the computer graveyard in the sky.

So now I need to decided what to buy. I have been running my old laptop attached to a 22" external monitor, and use an external keyboard an mouse when I'm working from home (which is 95% of the time). I do however need to be mobile so I want either a netbook or a laptop in order to remain mobile for meetings etc. when I'm out of the office.

I'm slightly dubios of buying a netbook as generally they're not particularly powerful. Having said that, the majority of the work I do (bar a bit of Photoshop & Dreamweaver) is online in Firefox, so I don't need a beast of a computer to get by.

Has anyone had any experience, going from a laptop/desktop to a netbook? Or perhaps you've got a netbook? I'm basically looking for the pros and cons of going from a high spec laptop (albeit high spec 4 years ago!) to a netbook. Anyone got any thoughts?

I've got both James... I must admit the notebook is fine for doing normal mundane stuff... emails.. twitter ect... but the laptop does everything ie photo shop.. dream-weaver. you have the power when you need it... Laptop every time really for me... hope tha helps :)

I agree with northernlad55. It's a laptop for me. Netbooks are compact and often convenient, but it's incredibly frustrating when you don't have the kind of support you need to do particularly demanding tasks, even if it is once in a great while.

Get a netbook, then when you decide it's not powerful enough and buy a laptop I can have it!

Genius idea even if I do say so myself.
